Massachusetts Freemasons instal officers in a public cerimony
The Massachusetts Freemasons of Northern Berkshire County will hold a combined installation of officers on Saturday, August 14 at 3 p.m. in the North Adams Masonic Temple, 172 Church St. The event is open to the public. Berkshire Lodge of Adams, Cheshire’s Upton Lodge, Lafayette-Greylock Lodge of North Adams, and Williams Lodge of Williamstown will participate in the ceremony. The lodges belong to the 30th Masonic District. The 36,000 Masons and 231 lodges in the commonwealth are organized into 32 geographically-aligned districts. Each year the elected and appointed officers of a Masonic lodge are installed into their respective stations according to a centuries-old ceremony of the fraternity. The newly installed officers will celebrate the event, believed to be the first of its kind, with members, friends, and family at the inaugural Master’s Ball immediately following the installation. This black-tie optional event is open to the public and will feature a four-course dinner and dancing.
